More than 100 golfers and friends contributed to a successful 13th annual outing. Gross proceeds of more than $12,000 help to fund near-term activities for people andd groups in need. Thanks for your support!
Our 13th annual MPF Golf Outing was a huge success. Thanks for your continued attendance and participation – many of you have been with us from the start and your “endurance” and generosity is really appreciated. Our previous golf events have raised upwards of $250,000. Hopefully, you are aware that this money goes back into the community and helps us fund many “kid-based” activities for Norristown-area youths as well as helping us out with scholarships and other unique situations where some of our neighbors need help. Details on these activities are below.
Your contributions to the Foundation continues to be put to good, efficient use in funding events and scholarships for deserving (but under-served!) youths as well as ongoing involvement in supporting the Patrician Society of Central Norristown day camp activities, the Family Life and Educational Counseling Service (FLECS) program at the Central Montgomery Mental Health / Mental Retardation Center, our Lady of Victory school, other scholarships and dozens of identified special cases. Most of these causes have been identified by you. As a “grass roots” organization that derives its funding from friends, families, and familiar organizations, these same resources have the ability to target our grants to very specific needs in a very timely manner.
MPF Supports Central Montgomery Mental Health /
Mental Retardation Center FLECS program!
Nikki
Sambrick has taken the initiaitive to represent the MPF in ways to
benefit the youth of Norristown. In mid-2008, Nikki started a program
to support FLECS (Family Life & Education Counseling Services). We
have established an annual budget to help the organization acquire
school supplies and other materials as it looks to support
the therapeutic program designed to address the social, emotional,
educational and behavioral problems of children ages 5 to 12 years.
On
the event side, Nikki, Donna Melle, Donna Shemar and others work with FLECS counselors in putting on events such as day of of bocce at the
Norristown Bocce League, pizza making ar Pizzaria Uno, distributing massive amounts of Christmas gifts, and basically staying in touch so that we can help FLECS meet the ever increasing demand for their services.
This is a very important organization to us and we thank Peggy Walsh for directing us to them. We are committed to help Heidi Duckett and the team there satisfy their growing child base. There is so much we can do. So much needs to be done. Bocce & Pizza Making
The MPF sponsors regular pizza making and bocce events for FLECS. They have had a couple in early August and will be doing them a few more times into September. IOn Friday, August 12, they are enjoying a day playing bocce and Heidi just now (Friday, August 11 @ 1:45 PM) told us ..."the kids have eaten so much they can't breathe". Based on the phone background noise, it sounds like they are having a blast.
We can use your help!
When we started working with FLECS a few years ago, they had maybe 60 kids in their program. Due to local economic and other conditions, the demand for their services has skyrocketed. In August, they are at 98 kids and within the next month or so they expect to be at 120 kids! This should not be a growth business but it is. If you can help out in any way, please let Nikki know.

Our 2nd Annual Operation "Troney Claus" at FLECS in Norristown
Operation Troney Claus went off without a hitch in late, December. "Santa Joe" (Shemar) delivered Christmas gifts for close to 80 kids this year due to the increased contributions form the MPF. In addition, Ken Butler and the US Marine Corp also provided a truckload of gifts. We truly appreciate their generosity. In many cases, the presents provided by the Foundation are the only gifts that these kids receive at Christmas. Thanks again to Ke, the USMC, Nikki Sambrick, Joe & Donna Shemar, Rosanne Campanella, Donna Melle, Lynne Alba, Tyler Galbreath, Michael Ciccorone and others for donating their time and talents
The Foundation is fortunate to have people like Nikki Sambrick and Donna Shemar who plan out what has become an annual thing at the FLECS center in downtown Norristown. The MPF sets aside a significant amount of money each year to fund several events for the kids at FLECS. What a great feeling to know that Foundation is able to help make this a Merry Christmas for those who truly need it.

Our 12th Annual Golf Outing at Jeffersonville Golf Club was a major
success!
Thanks to all who attended and contributed to the 12th
annual MPF golf outing, This year, we
grossed $11,000. Proceeds from the event
will be used to increase our role at FLECS in Norristown. At the dinner, we had two guests from FLECS
(Heidi & Beth) who told us about the increasing needs and hardships that
the kids who attend the FLECS program face every day. If you are not yet familiar with this
organization, you really should learn more about the great work they do there
on Dekalb Street in Norristown.
We had a wonderful day of weather which accommodated over 70
golfers and about 100 diners in the evening. It was a great day on the course
and we had some very stylin’ linksters.
Thanks also to the Jaegermeister folks who provided gifts, supplied some
samples and boosted morale to the golfers.
Thanks again and we hope so to all of you next year.

United Way If you contribute to the United Way, you can now target you donations to the Foundation. We have been accepted into the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Our code number is 12743. This should greatly expand our ability to attract and direct resources.
Current Status Since the Foundation was formed in 1999, we have raised in excess of $400,00 that has been earmarked for causes that have proven important to the Foundation and you, our financial supporters.
Looking back, we have been able to touch the lives of hundreds of people and worthy organizations ranging from identified individual needs including scholarships through support of the Patrician Society of Central Norristown, the FLECS program in Norristown, St. John's Hospice, early assistance to aid those injured on September 11 in New York City, purchasing a wheelchair for a needy person and numerous identified "grass roots" requests for kids and families in need, plus over 50 scholarship years at KKCHS, (now Pope John Paul II) and Our Lady of Victory elementary school.
The success of the Foundation has been solely as a result of contributions from folks like you along with the efforts of hundreds of Mike's friends, relatives, and business associates and many companies who have supported the objectives of the Foundation. Without your consistent support, it would have been very difficult to sustain the Foundation. However, you have given us the base that will help provide the longevity of success that many organizations are not able to attain.
